A new approach towards the development of a nasal vaccine against SARS-CoV-1
H. Repke
(230 pages)
The book uses a question-answer format to explain the rationale and principles of nasal vaccination as the the only method to prevent the entry of the virus into the body via the prevalent aerosol-driven infection. This is possible by a strong activation of the mucosal immune system after nasal vaccincation with bioactive nanoparticles loaded with fragments of the receptor binding protein of SARS-CoV-2. This is important because no form of intramuscular vaccination is capable of activating the mucosal immune system in the nose and mouth.
Initial studies have demonstrated that this novel form of vaccination induces a high concentration of SARS-CoV-2 specific secretory IgA dimers which can capture an neutralize the virus at the point of entry. The book contains 204 references to the most relevant scientific literature.
